OBEDIENCE CLASSES:

RUFF AROUND THE EDGES (BASIC OBEDIENCE) Weeks: 5 | Fee: $250 (tax included)
Does this describe your dog’s obedience? Then this is the class you’re looking for! Basic commands such as sit, down, stay, leave-it, and how to walk on a loose leash are just a few of the things covered. We’ll also show you how to improve your relationship with your dog while making him a well-mannered member of your family. This is a great basic class for recently adopted dogs, pups who have just completed a puppy class, or for older dogs just needing an obedience “refresher!”
NOTE: There is no free play in this class. Dogs remain on leash at all times.
Prerequisite: No prior training needed; dog must be 5 months or older. ** Dogs with any reactivity issues towards dogs and/or people must complete a private lesson prior to joining a class. Please contact me for a referral to a colleague that can help prepare your dog for a group class.**

POOCH THE LIMITS! (INTERMEDIATE) Weeks: 5 | Fee: $230 (tax included)
This is a continuation of our basic obedience class. This class will focus on improving owner handling skills and fine tuning basic obedience commands with increased distractions.
Prerequisite: Open to dogs that have completed Ruff Around the Edges or that have permission from the instructor only. Please email katie@dogsinprogress.com BEFORE registering for instructor approval.

INTERMEDIATE 2 Weeks: 3 | Fee: $170 (tax included)
This is a class for previous students that have completed the Pooch the Limits intermediate class or a Stay and Train program with Dogs in Progress. This is a continuation of the intermediate class and we will focus on commands in motion, working without use of a training collar and without the leash in your hand. *This class is generally held in the spring and summer.
Prerequisite: Open only to those that have previously completed Pooch the Limits intermediate, Intermediate 2, or a Stay and Train program with Dogs in Progress. Sorry- no exceptions!

BASIC LEASH SKILLS Weeks: 3 | Fee: $200 (tax included)
Walking politely on the leash is the foundation to a well-behaved, attentive dog. A dog that can walk on a loose leash is a dog that knows how to take direction from their owner around all kinds of different distractions. It can also assist in getting a much better recall and even helps to ease anxiety in nervous dogs as it gives them a single task to focus on versus being overwhelmed by their environment. A loose leash walk is definitely the skill to have if you plan on taking your dog out to public settings!
This class is good for either dogs just starting out with their leash training or for dogs/owners that need to start over and relearn the basics of a loose leash walk. Each week will build on the previous week so you should not sign up for this class if you cannot attend all three weeks consecutively.
Collars or training collars preferred but front clip harnesses or head halters are also acceptable.
Prerequisite: No prior training needed; dogs should be 6 months or older. ** This is not a class for dogs with reactivity issues. Please contact me for a private lesson referral if your dog is reactive or aggressive**

TERRIER BASICS Weeks: 5 | Fee: $250 (tax included)
Learn how to work through “terrier” issues in this specialized class just for terriers! You’ll learn basic obedience, games, and how to handle your dog’s natural instincts. Small breeds only please (JRT, Westie, Cairn, Welsh, Rat, etc.)

This class is a continuation of Terrier Basics. The goal of this class will be to work around increased distractions and distances and to reduce leash dependency. Terriers must be able to walk on a loose leash and have an understanding of all other basic commands to take this class.
Prerequisite: Terriers must have completed Terrier Basics AND have permission from instructor.

This class is an introduction to AKC’s Rally Obedience. Only on-leash novice courses will be practiced. No competitive obedience experience necessary. Dogs must have completed a basic obedience course to participate.

FOUNDATION AGILITY Weeks: 6 | Fee: $250 (tax included)
This course is the beginning of your journey towards navigating competition-level courses with your dog.
Over the six weeks, we will:
* Learn the fundamentals of guiding your dog on an agility course.
* Introduce selected equipment: tunnel, dog walk plank, and the pause table.
* Build your dog’s confidence and body awareness.
* Strengthen Team Communication.
Full sized equipment and sequencing is gradually introduced in higher level classes that follow.
Prerequisites: *Completion of a basic group obedience class* Dogs must be 6 months or older* Dogs must be comfortable in a group setting* No dog-aggressive behavior is permitted.
